Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in payroll calculations, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in payroll software systems. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting our employees by ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hours worked and deductions.
- Maintain employee records in the HRIS system, including new hires, terminations, and changes to employee status.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation related to payroll accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure proper handling of employee benefits and deductions.
- Utilize software such as PeopleSoft, UltiPro, and QuickBooks for payroll processing and reporting.
- Prepare reports on payroll metrics as needed for management review.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Assist with audits related to payroll processes and documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or technical accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles.
- Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation processes.
- Proficiency in using PeopleSoft, UltiPro, QuickBooks, or similar payroll systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with employees across various levels of the organization.
Candidates must have a solid understanding of debits and credits as they relate to payroll processing.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.22 - $30.37 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 10 per week
