Position Title: Grants Specialist


Work Structure: Contract


Work Location: Fully Remote


The Grants Specialist is a Contractor who is knowledgeable on the nonprofit grant management process, including typical policies and procedures, and understands how to navigate the process from research of grant opportunities and funder’s guidelines to initial letters of intent, proposal drafting, assembling required materials for submission of applications, and report writing. This position will focus 90% of its time on writing LOIs and proposals, but depending on client needs, may be expected to assist with grant research and grant reporting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Write letters of intent and grant proposals for nonprofit clients
  • Edit letters and proposals
  • Complete required writings and edits in a timely manner, in preparation for application submissions
  • Utilize client details, such as mission, vision, goals, objectives, program data, success stories, and other information to develop compelling introductory letters, summaries, and proposal narratives
  • Work with client teams to gather necessary data and other information to then contribute to required funder reports, if needed
  • May be expected to attend at least one (1) client meeting per month
  • Will meet with Principal Consultant at least once per week or one hour per week
  • May be asked to conduct grant research to identify potential funding opportunities for clients
  • May be asked to compile and combine client deliverables in preparation for grant submission
  • Produce required materials with quick-turnaround, if needed
  • Perform light data entry

Qualifications

  • Successful grant writing experience is prioritized over educational level
  • One (1) or more years of experience in grant writing
  • Previous work with nonprofit organizations
  • Familiarity with grant application process for nonprofit organizational funding
  • Project management knowledge or experience
  • Database management
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience or familiarity with collaborative work spaces such as Asana or Google Drive programs, such as and preferably Google Docs and Google Sheets.

Requirements

  • Candidate must own a laptop or desktop computer with reliable internet access
  • One (1) or more years of experience in grant writing
  • Familiarity with the grant application process for nonprofit organizational funding
  • Experience writing strong, competitive letters and detailed narratives and proposals for corporations, foundations, and government grants at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Previous work with nonprofit organizations
  • Familiarity and experience with nonprofit organizational structures and cultures
  • Experience with Google Drive programs, such as Google Docs and Google Sheets (experience with other collaborative workspaces and project management software may be considered)
  • Knows how to use email
  • Knows how to use the internet for research purposes
  • Can navigate a grant research database, if needed

Compensation


The Contractor will receive compensation upon completion of combined tasks, at intervals / contract phases throughout the project, per official agreement. The compensation is a flat fee paid per project within the contract (project-based pay). Contractors are informed in advance and choose to accept compensation terms prior to starting a project.

This is not an hourly or salary role, nor is this an employment role.


Benefits


This is a contract role, for which the candidate will be required to sign a Contractor Agreement. As such, this role does not generate benefits such as forms of insurance. The Contractor will pay their own taxes and insurance, and receive a 1099 tax form at the end of the year. The Contractor will receive financial compensation for work produced at phases throughout the project.

The contractor will have autonomy and flexible work hours. The contractor will gain desirable and professionally beneficial experience for which he or she will also receive recommendations for satisfying outcomes.
