Position Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Assistant to support the Director of Finance with key bookkeeping and accounting tasks. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online is required, and familiarity with Google Workspace is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting functions, including bank transaction processing and financial data entry.

  • Support accounts receivable activities such as invoice generation, payment tracking, and reconciliation.

  • Assist in managing accounts payable processes, including coding, entry, and payment of vendor invoices.

  • Review and categorize company credit card transactions to ensure compliance with expense policies and alignment with the budget.

  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries; perform account reconciliations as part of the monthly close process.

  • Analyze financial statements to identify discrepancies, variances, and areas for improvement.

  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly forecasts and the annual budget.

  • Maintain and update spreadsheets used for financial reporting, tracking, and analysis.

  • Review and validate data within shared systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Provide support on ad-hoc financial projects and reporting requests across departments.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to GAAP and internal accounting policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and functions.

  • Experience with Google Sheets and other Google Workspace applications is a plus.

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and accounting software tools is required.

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and standards preferred.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
