Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Assistant to support the Director of Finance with key bookkeeping and accounting tasks. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online is required, and familiarity with Google Workspace is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily accounting functions, including bank transaction processing and financial data entry.
Support accounts receivable activities such as invoice generation, payment tracking, and reconciliation.
Assist in managing accounts payable processes, including coding, entry, and payment of vendor invoices.
Review and categorize company credit card transactions to ensure compliance with expense policies and alignment with the budget.
Prepare and post month-end journal entries; perform account reconciliations as part of the monthly close process.
Analyze financial statements to identify discrepancies, variances, and areas for improvement.
Contribute to the preparation of monthly forecasts and the annual budget.
Maintain and update spreadsheets used for financial reporting, tracking, and analysis.
Review and validate data within shared systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Provide support on ad-hoc financial projects and reporting requests across departments.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and functions.
Experience with Google Sheets and other Google Workspace applications is a plus.
Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and accounting software tools is required.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and standards preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
